- Surprise Video Release!
- The surprise, new Green Pajamas video, "Kill The Power," begins ugly and angry but ends very upbeat: It re-enforces the idea of "killing" the current fascist leaning U.S. government, by way of persistent and peaceful protest.
- The digital single is out next week on Green Monkey Records.
- You can see the video on YouTube or on our website right HERE.

The latest music video for TO THE END OF THE SEA is out now on YouTube. Carrie Von Kiel portrays Juliet in "When Juliet Smiles" which also features Jeff as the lighthouse keeper. Laura joins Jeff performing the song in the video, directed and filmed by Susanne Kelly. While editing, Jeff added the title - A Short Film About Loving - just a fun nod to one of his favorite directors, Krzysztof Kieslowski, and his, "A Short Film About Killing." You can view "When Juliet Smiles" right HERE.
- Sea Of Secrets Video!
Sea Of Secrets is the latest video release from the album, TO THE END OF THE SEA, by The Green Pajamas. - New Album News: "It's Very Exciting"
Jeff Kelly and Tom Dyer are putting the finishing touches on the new Green Pajamas album this week. “It’s a kind of a return to our roots - our psychedelic origin,” states Jeff. A conceptual album, TO THE END OF THE SEA, is heavy on hooks, vocal harmonies and ringing guitars. Oh, and cellos, courtesy of Phil Hirschi.
Created specifically for release on vinyl, the record is an album length medley of 18 songs, divided into two parts…sides 1 and 2.

Guest vocalist and daughter of cellist Phil, Elise Hirschi, sings the album title song, "To the End of the Sea," in Spanish: "Al Fin de la Mar." "When I heard her sing I knew we had to get her on this record," says Jeff.
As mentioned in a previous post, the PHANTOM LAKE album is still in the works but will now probably be released in early 2017. “I just got a little side-tracked with this (TO THE END OF THE SEA) record and it became the priority," Kelly said. "It’s very exciting. I think people are really going to dig this a lot!”
- Green Pajamas Single
The Green Pajamas are hard at work on a new album to be called PHANTOM LAKE. In the meantime, they have released a new single, exclusively available on Bandcamp, called Red Bird. Jeff says: "It might have been called 'I dreamed I saw Zitkala-Sa,' as that's what the song is about." The song has the classic, guitar driven, Green Pajamas sound, clocking in at just under 4 minutes.
The cover art features an iconic photo of the Sioux writer, poet, teacher, activist and musician, Zitkala-Sa, taken by Gertrude Käsebier at the end of the 19th Century.
- New On Bandcamp!
Jeff Kelly's Hidden Agenda album's, INDISCRETION, and, FOR THE SWAN IN THE HALLWAY, are now available to stream or buy at $7.00 each. You can listen HERE at the Kelly/Green Pajamas St. Brigid Records Bandcamp page, which features a a growing number of albums and official bootleg recordings.
Regarding, INDISCRETION, the All Music Guide stated in 2002: "Kelly's most straightforward solo record, it's also one of his best albums period, including his Green Pajamas Records." **** 1/2
In 2004 Splendid e-zine said: "FOR THE SWAN IN THE HALLWAY is that rare album, full of sweet melodies and unforgettable hooks, but not defined by them. It's dark, powerful pop, guided by intelligence and powered by passion. If you take love seriously, you're going to want this album."
- I DIDN'T KNOW Video
Susanne Kelly's true story of being walked home by Ted Bundy when she was six years old is the latest Fur For Fairies single, I Didn't Know (b/w Into The Woods). Produced by Jeff, it is available to stream or buy here on the Green Monkey Records Bandcamp Page .
Susanne: "People are always horrified when I tell them that Ted Bundy walked me home from my friend’s birthday party when I was about six years old. I used this terrifying juxtaposition as framework for a song about guilt. I didn’t ever talk with my friend about how she felt after finding out her mother’s boyfriend “Ted” was Ted Bundy. I still feel guilt about that. That same birthday I cheated on a party game – guilt again. Guilt I felt as a child and guilt as an adult woman who doesn’t always do the right thing."
You can see the beautiful (if slightly spooky video) right HERE.

- She Says No Video By FFF
Green Monkey Records has released the fourth Fur For Fairies video. What was originally a rock song written by Jeff in the 1970's, She Says No, sung by Susanne Kelly to a Wurlitzer electric piano accompaniment, is now quiet and contemplative, the video stark and mysterious. You can see it HERE.
- Volume Two Now Available: OF WINE AND TEARS
OF WINE AND TEARS: HOME RECORDINGS 1991-1996 VOL. 2 is now available on Bandcamp. This is another 18 song collection, part two of a personal selection of 36 unreleased recordings. Jeff states: "This is the stuff that lead up to STRUNG BEHIND THE SUN in 1997. A lot of these tracks were written and recorded in that same way. A lot of the the arrangements are loose and spontaneous, sometimes goofy, sometimes good. Sometimes I had a written song, sometimes only a germ of an idea and sometimes, no idea at all when I would sit down at my keyboard to record. I was lucky most of the old cassettes I dug out still sounded pretty good after sitting in a drawer for 20 years!"
OF WINE AND TEARS is available HERE.
- A WHISPER OF RAIN On Bandcamp
"I was listening to Leonard Cohen and Nick Drake and really mostly jazz and classical music at the time, I didn't know much about Nirvana except they were from here. I came to appreciate some of that stuff later, when it was all just about over. I did like IN UTERO."
Jeff's liner notes state: "This is a selection of songs I recorded at home between 1991 - 1996. Some were ad-libbed, unfinished ideas. Some were used as demos. Some could have been released "as is" by The Green Pajamas. All of these songs were recorded on a 4 or 8 track cassette deck, usually in one session. Some were written, recorded and mixed, all in one session. These are a few of the ones that have stuck with us over the years."
The download is available HERE.
Volume two will be released within the next few weeks.
- Ultra-Rare Green Pajamas
Jeff is now posting "ultra-rare" Green Pajamas tracks on Facebook, starting with the never before released, "Agent 99 (Mix 1)," from 1997. He will post a new song each week. Right now, you can also hear an alternate mix of "Just A Breath Away" from SEVEN FATHOMS DOWN AND FALLING and "The Ravenna Witch no. 2," right here: The Green Pajamas Facebook.
- FUR FOR FAIRIES!
Still from the "Like The End Of The World" video.
Susanne Kelly is FUR FOR FAIRIES on this new rock and roll album produced by Jeff Kelly. The CD will be released in a beautiful eco wallet edition by Green Monkey Records next month. Often, funky, hard rocking and even a little bit jazzy in places, this record is very different than Jeff and Susanne's quieter, more introspective, BY RECKLESS MOONLIGHT. "We were listening to a lot of soul music and lots of swinging Blue Note stuff from the mid-sixties like Lou Donaldson when we recorded this," says Jeff. "I also got a new studio set-up which enabled me to do some interesting things that I couldn't do in the past, which gives it a fresh sound." Susanne's lusty, earthy vocals also guarantee this isn't a Green Pajamas record though Jeff does sneak in some PJs like electric guitar here and there..

- Tom Dyer Talks TWENTYFIVE
The facts on: Twentyfive by Jeff Kelly, 1991. A long time ago Jeff used to record his music onto cassettes. Tons of them. Some were fun. Some were sad. Some were noisy. Some rocked. Some were Lover’s Rock. Five years before this very private release, Jeff got married. To Susanne. I was there. Some of the songs he wrote were now about Susanne. Sometimes they were recorded with Susanne, like their unreleased L7 project, or Coffee In Nepal, which I released on cassette and which has been release on CD and vinyl. They laid the ground for their 2014 beautiful By Reckless Moonlight album back then.
This is a little different. Twentyfive is twenty-two songs written and recorded about/for Susanne (plus 3 poems) in the ensuing five years of nuptial bliss, all assembled onto one cassette and given to her on her twenty-fifth birthday. Some had been released on other releases, some not. “Oh How I Love You” from Coffee In Nepal is one of Jeff's best songs of any period. Jeff made a few copies and gave them to a few people. I was one of them.
Original fold-out cassette cover
Jeff was not doing a lot musically at that point, it was a bit of a fallow period in his otherwise prolific career. I listed Twentyfive out on some Jeff Kelly Discography to make it look like Jeff was still keeping his hand in, true, if a little fluffy. Like the Green Pajamas’ Happy Halloween (which had about 10 copies made when it was originally released), its legend grew over time.
At some point around 2003/4 I was living out in Rhode Island, had acquired some digital audio tools and digitized my copy for no particular reason I can remember other than I could. I was able to get rid of some of the cassette's tape hiss (so thrilling) and burnt it to CDR. Scanned the cassette cover and made it into a CD cover. Made two copies. Sent one to Jeff. Still have my copy.
So there you have it. A nice snapshot of the beginning of true love.
Can’t wait until Susanne turns 50!
Tom Dyer, Seattle, June 2015
- TWENTYFIVE On Bandcamp!
TWENTYFIVE, perhaps the most elusive Green Pajamas related album, is to be released digitally via Bandcamp. It has never been officially released in any form before.
On her 25th birthday, Jeff Kelly surprised his wife with a very personal gift: a cassette tape compilation of songs, all inspired by Susanne. Often created quickly, to surprise her at the end of her day, much like love notes, most of the songs were private and never intended for public consumption. The songs were recorded on Jeff’s Tascam 4-track cassette Portastudio between December 1985 and December 1990 and most all come from the same sonic territory as COFFEE IN NEPAL and PORTUGAL, two early cassette releases later reissued on the four CD, MELANCHOLY SUN, box set.
There are no plans for a CD version of this album.
- New On Bandcamp
Available now on The Green Pajamas Official Bootleg Page is RADIO REMIXES. It's just what it says: remixed tracks from a KEXP broadcast in December, 2013. The PJs play four songs live - The Lonesome End of the Lake, The Queen's Last Tango, Why Good Men Go Bad and The Red, Red Rose. Jeff wanted to feature the accordion, cello and percussion a bit more and you can now hear the vocals clearly!
You can stream it or own all four for 4 bucks HERE.
